Introducing Oticon Own 5 hearing aids
Launched in October, Oticon Own is revolutionising the industry as the first custom aid to integrate Deep Neural Network AI technology (DNN) onboard, powered by the renowned Polaris platform, previously seen in Oticon More. This cutting-edge fusion empowers the device with exceptional capabilities to identify and comprehend not only speech but also a wide array of everyday sounds. The foundation of this expertise lies in a vast network built on 12 million sounds globally recorded by Oticon.
Why is Oticon Own 5 a Game-Changer?
Oticon Own hearing aids prioritise how our brains perceive sound, transcending the conventional approach of hearing with just our ears. Utilising BrainHearing technology, these aids provide a remarkably realistic listening experience, embracing the natural workings of your brain. Expect an enhanced perception of meaningful sounds, ensuring a well-balanced and clear representation of life's intricate details.
The Clever MoreSound Amplifier
The MoreSound Amplifier is a true marvel, adept at maintaining a balanced soundscape while amplifying it in a manner that preserves essential details and sound contrasts. Employing a unique compression and amplification technique, this innovative approach sets it apart from conventional methods, delivering a highly personalised and immersive auditory experience.
The Journey of Oticon More to Oticon Own
Back in 2021, Oticon launched the More hearing aid range, primarily targeting BTE model users with a new operating system. However, this release did not cater to ITE hearing aid wearers, leaving them without access to this groundbreaking technology. That changes now with the arrival of Oticon Own, offering custom solutions to ITE users.
Enter Oticon Own 5 Hearing Aids: Entry-Level Performance with AI
The Oticon Own 5 hearing aids present an entry-level performance option, incorporating the BrainHearing Technology for a superior listening experience. While some core features offered by this hearing aid range might be absent, it's essential to consult an audiologist to understand which features are not available and if they align with your specific hearing needs.
Comparing Oticon Own 5 with Own 1, expect fewer processing channels, fitting bands, and a reduced percentage in the Spatial Balancer feature.
Perfect Fit: Discreet and Tailored
Recognising the growing demand for discreet hearing aid models, Oticon has placed significant focus on miniaturization since the Oticon Opn ITE options. This dedication has resulted in smaller, more unobtrusive ITE hearing aids, perfectly suited to meet each patient's individual requirements. Notably, the Oticon Own 5 IIC hearing aids have achieved near-invisibility in 9 out of 10 ears, validated by Oticon's White Papers. This remarkable feat is made possible through the development of smaller components, advanced software, and refined processing techniques.
Oticon Own 5 Hearing Aid Styles, Colours, and Performance Levels
Offering a wide array of choices, the Oticon Own 5 hearing aids come in five ITE styles, each available in five distinct colors, spanning across five performance levels. Custom-molded to ensure a perfect fit, these hearing aids guarantee utmost discretion and comfort, precisely conforming to your unique ear shape and canal characteristics.

Key Features of Oticon Own 5 Hearing Aids:
MoreSound Intelligence: Captures, optimises, and enhances sounds for comprehensive sound access and improved clarity of individual sounds.
Spatial Sound: Enhances awareness of surrounding sounds, allowing you to choose what to focus on. This feature builds upon directional strategies from Oticon Opn, offering nuanced sound without overwhelming.

Why Choose Oticon Own 5 Hearing Aids?
Oticon Own hearing aids will soon be compared to the Phonak Virto Paradise and Starkey Evolv AI, as all are ITE models set at similar price points. The distinctive advantage of Oticon Own lies in its more advanced operating system, utilising DNN and sophisticated AI processes compared to others. As a result, new Oticon hearing aids require approximately 30% less listening effort than older aids, offering unmatched convenience and clarity.
Bluetooth Connectivity of Oticon Own 5 Hearing Aids
As previously mentioned, Bluetooth connectivity is available in the ITC and both ITE models, with the IIC and CIC styles remaining non-wireless. The Oticon Own 5 hearing aids provide direct streaming to both iPhone and Android devices, allowing you to access hands-free calls from iPhones and iPads using your hearing aids as personal headphones.
While none of the Oticon Own 5 hearing aids are rechargeable, it's worth noting that only two styles offer Bluetooth connectivity, necessitating a choice between features and size. Additionally, these two Bluetooth options can have an added telecoil feature, though not both. This once again requires a thoughtful decision to prioritise between connectivity and this feature.
