What are the benefits of hearing healthcare at home?

  • Hearing aid tuning in the most realistic environment.
  • One-on-one assistance with connecting, using, and maintaining your hearing aids.
  • A more personable relationship with your hearing healthcare provider in a setting that's more comfortable.
  • More convenient.
  • Benefit from a bespoke service for free!
  • Ideal for those who have logistical issues and can't attend a clinic.
Hearing tests home visits
Some people think that a hearing test can only be properly conducted in some sort of soundproof booth. This is not the case. The audiologist has specialist equipment, including headphones that can test your hearing just as accurately in any quiet room in your home.

As your hearing loss changes over time, retuning is a common reason for people needing to make further appointments. It can be very useful to have these appointments done at home as you are already in the environment you use the hearing aids.

A home visit hearing test is no different from one done at a clinic. The audiologist will examine your ears first to check for blockage or signs of infection, then they will conduct a full hearing test to determine the exact level of hearing loss you have.

Once this information has been gathered, they will then sit down and discuss with you all the options they believe would be suitable for your hearing needs.

Also, there are many wireless accessories that can connect your hearing aids to various devices in your home such as your TV or telephone. With a home visit, the audiologist can properly demonstrate these so you have a far better idea of whether it is the kind of technology for you.

Home visits on the high street - Are they available?

If you are just starting to research hearing aids and like the sound of a home visit, it would be easy to assume that all hearing aid providers would come and visit you for your care.  In reality, this is not the case.  To bring clarity, here are the main highstreet hearing aid providers and what they currently offer:

  • Boots hearing test home visits etc:  No home visits, just in-store appointments.
  • Specsavers hearing home visits etc:  We don't know if they offer all hearing services, but a hearing test will cost roughly £100 at home.
  • Amplifon home visiting services:  Do home visits for around £30.
  • Bloom home visits:  Do home visits in some areas, you'd have to double-check if yours is covered.
  • Scrivens hearing healthcare at home:  Don't provide any home visits.

What do we offer at Your Hearing?  What's included in the price?
